Project One - Individual Statement

Four our scenario, rather than have a future scenario set for a certain year in the future, we have a set of scenario’s that show Paddington central’s evolution and adaptation of how it is going to achieve this overall scenario. The major scenario includes Paddington central evolving over time into a self organising intelligent infrastructure system. Intelligent infrastructure systems is basically a process where infrastructure incorporates a number of set systems in order to develop, grow and accommodate to ultimately achieve a set future scenario. This inclusion of intelligent infrastructure systems allows this progression into a final scenario, as future developments and technologies become available, the infrastructure adapts and evolves. The final scenario is taking the early scenario of virtual production, and evolving this into a mass customisation culture which therefore allows for personalised consumption to dominate. The future of biosynthetic technology allows for the design and synthetic production of organic material such as food and resources. Digital printing allows this to be made on-site, reducing needs for transporting goods and services.

As digital environment grows, the entire built environment will be seen through two layers: digital and physical. This will further shape Paddington Central as the main core of personalised consumption. As personalisation evolves and grows, it becomes normal consumption. People find personalised solutions to fulfil their needs and desires on both physical and digital. This leads to people developing new relationships with peers in both the digital and physical environment of Paddington Central. This helps Paddington to sustain and further develop a community connection as people now become prosumers (a portmanteau of producer and consumer) who can now share, create, design and innovate their own products.
